The exhibition explores his documentary and poetic interest in the Días de plaza (Market Days) in the Central Valleys region of the state. His photographs pay homage to those who inhabit the markets and whose work sustains local economies. &nbsp; The Días de plaza are a system of commercial rotation with origins in pre-Columbian tianguis (from the Nahuatl word tianquiztli), which transform a traditional market into the center of regional trade on specific days of the week, attracting vendors from various municipalities. According to this system, Miahuatlán holds its market on Monday, Santa María Atzompa on Tuesday, Villa de Etla and Zimatlán de Álvarez on Wednesday, Zaachila and Ejutla de Crespo on Thursday, Ocotlán on Friday, Oaxaca City on Saturday, and Tlacolula on Sunday, while in Teotitlán del Valle, the market operates daily. &nbsp; Traditional markets are complex social spaces where commercial activities intersect, particularly in agriculture, livestock, and artisanal goods. They are also crucial sites for cultural and linguistic exchange among Oaxaca’s Indigenous communities—the state with the highest number of Indigenous languages spoken in Mexico—reflecting a vast cultural and identity-rich heritage. &nbsp; The title of this exhibition references a phrase from the short story La semana de colores (The Week of Colors) by Mexican writer Elena Garro. As a whole, the photographs incorporate the dreamlike quality present in that narrative, capturing moments of beauty, tenderness, and contemplation while also depicting the stark realities of the daily trade of animals and meat for human consumption. The images convey the contrasts and hardships of life in these spaces. &nbsp; As part of Aquí estamos en el centro de los días and under the same name, Gabriele Sciotto presents a fanzine published in Oaxaca in collaboration with Erandi Adame. In this publication, he establishes a direct dialogue between Garro’s story and the moments he captured in traditional markets throughout 2023. Since the beginning of his career, the artist has focused his photographic practice on documenting various social issues and cultural heritage. His work has been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, Time, BBC, CNN, La Repubblica, and Corriere della Sera. &nbsp; This exhibition setup seeks to create a unique atmosphere, offering an alternative to the rigid formality of the white cube. Together with other groups, La Lega ignored all opposition to set up a host of unrecognised institutions exclusive to Padanians only - a Miss Padania pageant, a national Padania football team and their own houses of parliament, to name a few.The project will track the history of the fringe group’s beginnings, highlighting the similarities between the rhetoric of La Lega, now focusing on migration and Euroscepticism, and that of the old Lega Nord, once poised against southern Italy and corruption in Rome. These events gain a mild or none attention from the State Police during the years, up until this year. The founding of a woman's body on April 14th in a flooded shaft in an abandoned copper pyrite mine, lead Police to start investigations, the consequence was a Nationwide scandal over the Police procedures on missing people forcing the nomination of a new Chief Officer. The investigations lead to the arrest of an army officer, Nicos Metaxas, 35, the first serial killer in the history of the island, who confessed the killing of five women and two of their daughters, all of them were foreigns, three from the Philippines. Only in 2006 after the opening of checkpoints trough the border the climate was ripe for the CMP to begin excavations and exhumations on both sides of the island. Since then are 955 the individuals that have been returned to their families over 1297 sites excavated. archbishop J.Patrick Carrol-Abbing, candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1988. After the second world war when the archbishop from Ireland decided to take care of the sciusciàs (unaccompanied minors living on the street) in Rome, saving them from the street. His determination is such as to be able to offer these disadvantaged children not just a house, but a real city with accommodation and services where, in addition to a family and emotional context, where they can build a real social life. Thus the educational method of self-government is developed, a real motor of the Boys' Town. Based on active participation, on the sense of responsibility and belonging to the community, this system prepares the boys for life. Every minor without a family can become mayor or counsellor and understand how much each individual choice should be addressed to the good of the res publica. More than fifty years have passed since this beautiful garden city was founded, today the contributors that used to cover the expenses are gone and with just public founds the Town is struggling. Other things changed, the names of the boys become more exotic, because no longer Italians, but Africans, part of the 18,300 unaccompanied minors arrived in the country during the recent years. These boys have made an endless and terrible journey before walking along the tree-lined avenue that leads to the structure. What does not change is the shared dream with the post world war's sciusciàs. Always the same. The hope for a better life. And if inside the city seems to be realised, everything risks breaking on the rocks of a rigid regulatory system. The Italian law n. 135/2012 provides that when they become of age, they must leave reception facilities like the Boys' Town by converting their residence permit into a study or work permit. Other requirements hidden in the normative folds are the residence, for at least three years in Italy, and the availability of a new reliable accommodation. Failing these requirements the boys are supposed to be sent back to their country, most commonly they ended up staying illegally in the country where they quickly risk falling into illegal jobs. All of the values that are brought into the heart, after the permanence of the center risk to be lost in the black hole opened by the bureaucrats. The international response was strong. USAID donated $400,000, Israel and Japan sent over 70 highly trained rescue team membes each, and all of the major and local NGOs actively supported the recovery operations. The Mexican red cross received more than 144 millio pesos in donations. Just in Mexico City, 5,765 buildings were affected, in addition to the earthquake that struck Oaxaca on the 7th September, 180,731 houses have been damaged: 50,610 completely destroyed, but just 2,642 people have been relocated, leaving a quarter of a million people homeless. Private companies and public figures like Carlos Slim, BBVA, Lady Gaga, Google, Facebook, Apple, Samsung and Coca-Cola have donated up to $110 million each, countless other big brands operating in the country have also been making donations directly in the affected areas. The government, led by president Nieto, had promised $1.7 million for people who either lost or had their houses damaged. Months later, this money is yet to be delivered and almost $57 million in donations have gone missing, with a severe lack of information on how these were going to be deployed.&nbsp;
